Principal Angela Graham-Callahan
Greetings Parents and Families of Eugene Field Elementary!
My name is Angela Graham-Callahan and I am excited to introduce myself as your child’s Principal. I am passionate about the education of children and I want to partner with you in the education of your child. As a parent, you are your child’s first teacher and I want to work together with you to make sure we are meeting your child’s social, emotional, and academic needs.
For the past 11 years, I have worked as both a classroom teacher and in an administrative capacity. I have been involved with the Eugene Field Community for most of those years and have a deep and abiding commitment to this neighborhood. I can say, without hesitation, that I love this community and desire to see it continue to grow, develop, and thrive.
Eugene Field is a great school with a lot of great teachers! My goal is to see every student receiving excellent instruction from every teacher at Eugene Field. In order to do that, we will be looking to you to support your child’s success through different opportunities for parent and community engagement. Eugene Field is a “family” and that includes you! Thank you for the opportunity to serve your family in this role!

Thank you for choosing our school for your family. Great things are happening here and I am excited to start our year!
One unique quality of our school is our commitment to social-emotional learning. We know that positive school relationships matter and that it is imperative for students and adults to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy, and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
Our partnership with Yale University gives us the tools we need to support your child as they discover their best self. Last year, we focused on developing a working vocabulary to express emotions. Students were able to recognize language beyond mad, sad, or happy and really express if they were outraged, disappointed, or gleeful. This year, we will focus on the Meta Moment - that self-regulation moment that takes us back to our best self after challenging feelings. This focus will help students develop strategies that employ healthy new responses in every challenging situation they encounter.
In addition to Social Emotional Learning, Eugene Field is focused on Academic Achievement. Last year, we doubled our proficiency in reading. We surpassed all of our growth goals building-wide in math and reading. We will continue our academic focus and achieve even more. Our mission to educate, excite, and engage will be accomplished with your help! You are welcome at our school and we invite you to join us as we educate your child.
Eugene Field has amazing partnerships with members of our community. Our community in schools representative created partnerships with local businesses that support your students through donations of school supplies, uniforms, and gifts. Our social worker is available to help you set up insurance through Sooner Care or sign up for SNAP benefits. We partner with local churches, that provide donations for our Big Bucks store as well as weekly Bible Clubs and Community Night opportunities for you.
The YMCA offers GO Club, an after-school experience for your student. Go Club partnered with the local food bank to offer dinner each night for students and you are welcome to volunteer to serve and receive dinner for yourself. We host Reading Partners to help your child become a
stronger reader. We host City Year in grades 3rd-5th, so your student has extra support in their classroom.
In addition, City Year offers a Walking School Bus for your students where members of City Year go to each apartment complex and walk students to and from school. Our community supports Eugene Field and we are thankful that you are now a part of our family. We can’t wait for the school year to start!
