Art
In elementary art classes, students will explore many different aspects of visual art. Students will let their creativity flow by engaging in activities such as drawing, painting, and sculpting with various materials. They also learn art vocabulary, explore the work of many different artists and art movements, and learn to appreciate art as it enhances our world.
Clubs
- Basketball Club
- Leader: Melissa Deroin
- Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (3-5PM)
- Basketball club students can learn how to dribble, pass, shoot and move the ball. Drills can help improve fine and large motor skills. Students can gain confidence in their abilities as they improve their basketball skills. Students can learn the value of teamwork and cooperation. They can also learn about resilience, perseverance, and the importance of hard work.
- Bike Club
- Leader: Bethany Bristol
- Tuesday (3-5PM)
- Bike Club kicks off in late September and runs for 20-25 weeks. The club is made up of 20 students and 5 volunteers. Students and volunteers meet weekly after school to ride bikes and work on cycling skills, life skills (confidence, respect, following rules, etc.) and other activities such as STEM learning. The spring semester is focused on riding off campus to a fire station, museum, park, restaurant or another nearby place of interest. Students who complete the program earn a bicycle and helmet.
- Exploring Watercolor Club
- Leader: Patricia Osman
- Tuesday and Thursday (3-5PM)
- Liquid watercolor is good for early brain development because it provides an experience that requires students to actively engage. Students learn to mix watercolor paint and paint pictures. This fun water painting activity is so simple…All you need are paint brushes and water. Watercolor strengthens gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, improves hand manipulation and encourages creativity.
- Global Gardens Afterschool Club
- Leaders: Mary Smith & Madison Bailey
- Monday-Thursday (2:30-4:30PM)
- Global Gardens after-school program serves students in grades 3-5 for three -four hours weekly from September through May. It is focused on student-led inquiry and empowerment. This program instills a sense of ownership, pride and responsibility in students. Participants develop goal setting skills, self-awareness, interpersonal skills, and strong community connections. The relationships that this program creates for students are as important as the knowledge it builds.
- Yearbook Club
- Leader: Margaret Melton
- Thursday (3-4:30PM)
- Yearbook Club members work together to design and produce the yearbook, including selecting themes, writing captions, and marketing. Through their involvement in the club, students may learn crucial life skills such as: time management, prioritizing, reliability and completing tasks. The physical goal is to produce an excellent yearbook that arrives before May.
- YMCA Afterschool “GO” Club
- Monday – Friday (2:30-5:00PM)
- The YMCA GO Club supports Eugene Field Elementary school during the school year! The program provide students with literacy, STEM, enrichment activities, movement and social and emotional learning.

Storyline
Storyline features videos of famous actors reading favorite children's stories. This website is part of the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists Foundation, which provides the free videos and activity guides. New story videos are added, so keep checking in. -

Each student is allowed to check out 2 books. Grades Kinder through 2nd grade must have their book bag. Check out is for one week.
